Obscure Drumtraks

The Sequential Circuits Drumtraks is a favorite staple of many producers such as Chromeo, Prince, and Orbital to name a few. This machine oozes with retro funk vibes of the 80s with a low pass analog filter to help with its character.

This particular machine was purchased on a gamble on eBay with “issues”. I actually ended up destroying a few of the buttons trying to clean it inside and out. After many years had gone by I felt like I was missing out on the funk mojo. I decided to purchase costly replacement parts and resume repairs on. Even though the machine still has a few sequencer issues the sounds all triggered properly and the power supply wasn’t noisy at all. The result is the sample pack you hear now.

This sample pack is clean and raw. The machine went straight to an MPC and the sounds were truncated. The sounds weren’t processed in any other way (including normalization) to avoid any sound distortion and increasing the noise floor. Each sound has 16 pitches which are all included. 200 Samples are at 16-bit 44.1khz WAV and sorted in corresponding folders. The files are numbered to match the pitch parameter of the hardware machine so if you want to match the pitches you just need to match the numbers. Also included are a few oddities such as powering up/down, metronome, and a few other noises the machine-made.
